One of the most popular pastimes for many individuals is watching their favorite video series on T.V. or via the internet. Whether adults or children alike, more and more people are glued on their T.V. or computers in their free hours. According to Nielsen, an average of 5 hours are spent daily by adults in the United States. In Germany and the Philippines, they spend watching T.V. a daily average of 4 hours and 15 minutes.

T.V. has indeed become a way of life for many individuals the world over. It is a way to entertain and relax the body and the mind from the usual routines of daily life. But other than the entertainment and relaxation that we derive, here are some tips for a more meaningful T.V. experience.

Integrate Worthwhile Activities

You can elevate your watching experience by integrating some activities that are beneficial to your health.

Doing range of motion exercises or isometric contractions of your muscles will not only add to your relaxation but will give you more strength and flexibility.

Prepare Power Snacks

Most individuals have the habit of integrating their snack time with watching T.V. And most of the time; the snacks are those that are ready to eat junk food from groceries. Imagine yourself watching T.V. while lying on the couch and munching on junk food for five long hours, seven days a week in one year. You may not know it, but you are living a sedentary life with many side effects on your overall wellness.

Preparing healthy snacks before you switch on the T.V. will truly make T.V. watching more meaningful. A bowl of fruits or a sandwich stuffed with vegetables and a glass of fruit juice will not only fill your tummy but will supplement your body with necessary nutrients. Alternating healthy snacks will give you health benefits in the long run.

Make family bonding a daily routine through watching T.V. It is the cheapest way to do so yet it may be as effective. Spur interest from all your family members over a video series in which you can all watch at the same time. By doing so, you will have a common topic of interest when you have hours of conversation like when you are having your dinner.
